According to Japanese media, famous Japanese musician Kazuo Shiina (椎名和夫) recently passed away at the age of 73.
At beginning of his career, Shiina debuted as a violist and guitarist, then transitioning to composing, arranging, and producing. His famous arrangement work is Akina Nakamori (中森明菜) 's "Desire (Jōnetsu)" , for which he won the Japan Record Award for Best Arrangement.
In addition, he was also a long-term guitarist for Tatsuro Yamashita (山下達郎)'s concerts, earning his deep trust.
In his later years, Shiina mainly focused on protecting copyrights of musicians.
Shiina used to work with Miyuki Nakajima in late 1980s. He arranged and composed music for her during that time. He also produced Nakajima's 1988 album "Miyuki Nakajima", which marked the end of " the era of madness" in Nakajima's music career.
